Rusatom Service JSC together with Rostechnadzor will hold a nuclear infrastructure round table within the ATOMEXPO 2022

Rusatom Service JSC (a company of Rosenergoatom group, Electrical Power Division of ROSATOM) will hold a round table "Licensing Harmonization: Utopia or Reality" as part of XII International Forum ATOMEXPO 2022 on November 22.

The event organized together with Rostechnadzor will be attended by representatives of nuclear and radiation safety regulation authorities from countries with developed nuclear power industry and from states that are constructing their first nuclear power plant or that are only planning to develop and improve nuclear programs. Representatives of nuclear industry and operating organizations will also take part in discussions. Olga Lugovsksaya, Head of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of EMERCOM of Belarus will moderate the discussion. Aleksey Ferapontov, Deputy Head of Rostechnadzor, will address the audience with a welcoming speech.

The round table participants will share their views on the key issues of the development of the national safety regulation system in the field of nuclear energy use and the licensing process as an integral element of nuclear infrastructure development in general and the implementation of a nuclear project. They will have an opportunity to share experience in the field of creation and development of safety regulation infrastructure in the field of nuclear energy use, preparation of licensing documentation and licensing of new high and low power NPP projects.

The round table will highlight aspects of the licensing process that are prompting the international community to develop new initiatives to harmonize the licensing process and requirements, both from the perspective of operating organizations and regulators. These initiatives definitely require an effective dialogue between representatives of regulators, operators, and nuclear technology suppliers. What regulatory harmonization and cooperation initiatives are discussed on international platforms? How does an advanced nuclear infrastructure support the licensing process? At the session, speakers will talk in detail about their experiences in licensing the country's first NPP and considerations for establishing a framework for a safe project implementation, taking into account IAEA recommendations, accumulated experience and best practices.
