A well-known French expert in the sphere of NPP safety visited the Novovoronezh NPP

On November 24, 2021, Jacques Regaldo, senior vice president of the French company Electricite de France (EDF), and Vasily Aksenov, director of the Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Power Plant Organizations (WANO), visited the Novovoronezh NPP (NV NPP).

For Mr. Regaldo, this is the second visit to a Russian NPP, where you can see the entire evolutionary line of technologies for PWR reactors: and the decommissioned power units No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 (PWR-210, PWR-365, PWR-440), and operating No. 4 (PWR-440) and No. 5 (PWR-1000), as well as new innovative power units No. 6 and No. 7 of generation "3+" (PWR-1200). Sergei Vitkovsky, Chief Engineer of Novovoronezh NPP, spoke about this at the meeting. He noted the cooperation of Novovoronezh NPP with French nuclear specialists, which contributes to an increase in the level of safety and the ability to use the best world practices in the field of nuclear energy.

As part of his visit to the Novovoronezh NPP, Jacques Regaldo went to see the innovative power unit No. 6, the world's first power unit with the latest security systems, and the simulator complex of the Personnel training center (PTC).

“I visited the Novovoronezh NPP in 2017, right after power unit No. 6 was put into operation. I am happy to have the opportunity to visit the NV NPP again, when two innovative power units are already in operation here and to make sure of their stable operation. I understand the importance of the Novovoronezh NPP as a head station, and its importance in the development of the nuclear power industry.”- said Jacques Regaldo.

They also showed the guest the modern cultural and sports facilities of Novovoronezh, built in recent years with the support of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom and the government of the Voronezh Region.

Electricite de France (EDF) is the largest stat energy company in France, which owns nuclear and hydroelectric power plants generating 95% of electricity without CO2 emissions. EDF has the highest electricity production in Europe.
