The experience of the Kalinin NPP in the sphere of construction and operation of the Kalinin data center will be used in the Republic of Tatarstan

The experience of the Kalinin NPP, accumulated during the construction and operation of the Kalinin Data Center (DC), became the main topic of the visit to Udomlya (Tver Region) of the employees of Atomdata-Innopolis, which is implementing and developing the Innopolis DC construction project in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The visit program included an introductory tour of the data center site, inspection of technological rooms and engineering systems. During a working meeting with specialists from the Kalinin NPP, the guests focused the stages of construction, maintenance and operation of a high-tech facility.

“We are happy to share our experience. The solutions we have accumulated will help colleagues organize their work more efficiently and avoid potential problems,” said Alexander Ivanov, head of the Kalinin Data Center. He noted that in addition to consulting, KNPP specialists provide assistance in choosing technical solutions and reviewing design documentation.

The first stage of the Innopolis data center is planned for commissioning in the second quarter of 2023 and will amount to 1000 racks of IT equipment with the possibility of further expansion to 2000 racks with a total capacity of 16 MW. So the future data center can become the largest data center in the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation.

The new data center will provide customers both in the Republic of Tatarstan and beyond its borders with a reliable IT infrastructure built taking into account the experience of Rosenergoatom in the sphere of energy, physical and information security.

For reference:
The Kalinin data center with a total capacity of 80 MW is one of the largest data centers in Russia and Europe. This is the first data center in the network of highly secure and reliable data centers of Rosenergoatom at the sites of nuclear enterprises connected by high-speed communication channels into a single geographically distributed disaster-proof infrastructure. The data center is located at the site of the Kalinin NPP next to the town of Udomlya, Tver Region.

Atomdata-Innopolis is a subsidiary of Rosenergoatom, established on October 29, 2020 to support the Innopolis data center construction as part of a memorandum of cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and the development program for a geographically distributed and disaster-proof data center network of Rosenergoatom.
