Experts from the Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Power Plant Operators (WANO - MC) have completed a two-day training mission to support Rostov NPP. For the first time, the Rostov nuclear power plant tested the format of a training mission to support WANO via videoconference.

“The topic of the support mission that contains risk management issues is quite specific, but I am sure that the recommendations / suggestions from WANO experts will help the nuclear power plant to maximize the safety and reliability of power units operation, constantly moving up the development spiral,” the head of the support mission, Advisor at the Volgodonsk NPP (MC) Galim Musin emphasized, welcoming participants of the event.

The WANO-MC support mission is aimed at improving activities at Rostov NPP in 3 areas: Leadership, Operational Priorities, and Basics of production activities in the field of maintenance and repair.

“The main goal that the management of the Rostov NPP set for itself by inviting the WANO-MC support mission is to gain experience and the best international practices in the field of safety. Lively dialogue, interactive discussions during the event testify that the goal has been achieved ", Deputy Chief Engineer at the Rostov NPP in Quality Department Andrey Koltsov noted.

The online mission was also attended by 3 WANO experts (MC) - Sergey Kislinsky, chief expert of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC; Igor Gorbachevsky, expert of JSC Atomtekhenergo; Sergey Kukhar, Deputy Head of the Engineering Operations Department of the Leningrad NPP and a representative of WANO (MC) at the Rostov NPP site, advisor Dmitry Kopylov.

The videoconference participants discussed the reports of the experts, which provided information related to the functioning of the integrated risk management system at the enterprises of the nuclear industry, its features and specifics.

Based on the results of the work, a report will be issued and a full set of presentations by WANO-MC experts for the nuclear power plant will be handed over. In the future, the specialists of Rostov NPP will analyze the information presented at the training mission to support WANO - MC and develop measures to improve the production activities of Rostov NPP in the above areas.
