WANO Corporate Peer Review has been started at Kursk NPP

On April 13, 2011 a Corporate Peer Review, held by the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) at all Russian nuclear plants, was started at Kursk NPP.

The Peer Review team includes member of EDF Company nuclear safety group Jean-Paul Kombemorel (France), Director of WANO Atlantic Centre David Farr (the USA) and Deputy Director of WANO Moscow Centre Sergey Vybornov (Russia).
 
The aim of the Peer Review is to improve the level of corporate interrelation in Rosenergoatom Concern in the providing of safe and reliable NPP operation, and also in using international experience in this field.

The inspection will be held in five branches: corporate governance and management, corporate supervision and control, corporate engineering and technical support, human resources and communications.

WANO experts will attend production objects of power units Nos. 1 and 3, and carry out multiple interviews with Kursk NPP senior and middle managers and specialists.  

The Peer Review at Kursk NPP will last till April 15 of the current year. Its results will be used for the preparation of the concluding report, including the enumeration of the regions for the sake of the improvement of positive practices in Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC activity.

At present Kursk NPP operates power units Nos. 2, 3 and 4. The actual capacity corresponds to the dispatch schedule. Since April 1, 2011, power unit No. 1 has been in scheduled midlife repair.

The radiation background at Kursk NPP industrial site and its location corresponds to the set standards and does not exceed the natural background values.
