The Leningrad NPP: power unit ?3 stopped

The power unit ?3 of the Leningrad NPP was stopped by the request on October 3 at 02 h. 2 min. As a result of the storm there was an increase in water level in the Gulf of Finland and in amount of slime that had an effect on the correct operation of the water intake equipment of the LNPP.

Recall, according to the forecast of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Leningrad region, there have been observed wind gusts with speed 13-23 m / s and increased up to 27 m / s and the maximum wave height of 2.5-3.0 m in some places in the Leningrad region.

Currently, there are 2 power unit in work, which carry a total load of 1980 MW. The second unit is in scheduled overhaul. There are no remarks to the equipment work. The radiation background at the plant and adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural background values.

The Leningrad nuclear power plant is the JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern" branch. The station is located in the city Sosnovy Bor in 80 km to the west of St. Petersburg on the bank of the Finland Gulf.
