In accordance with an annual schedule, power unit will held repair and modernization of the reactor and turbine equipment, main circulating pumps, electrical and auxiliary equipment.

"The main task for today to carry out maintenance and repair works on the power unit ?2 in time and in compliance with all safety rules and standards", - said the Director of the Smolensk NPP Alexander Vassiliev.

As noted, in turn, the Deputy Chief Engineer of the plant for engineering support Oleg Kuzhaniyazov, the Smolensk NPP has successfully implemented production system of SC "Rosatom" (PSR), one of the areas of which is reducing the time of repair.

So he said, thanks to the introduction of the PSR, in 2015 the power units ?1 and ?3 of the Smolensk NPP have been able to reduce the timing of scheduled repairs for more than 14 days.

It is possible to develop additionally approximately 336 million KWh.

Upon completion of the repair at the power unit ?2 of the Smolensk NPP, it will be again included into the power grid and will bear the load in accordance with the dispatch schedule.

Note, that for the first 9 days of October the Smolensk NPP power units have developed 586 million kWh of electricity. Since the beginning of 2015 it has been produced 18.912 billion kWh, over the plan - 1.795 billion kWh.

There are three power units in work at the moment at the Smolensk NPP. The total capacity is 2072 megawatts. There are no comments to the operation of the equipment.

The radiation background is unchanged and corresponds to natural values on an industrial platform of the Smolensk nuclear power plant and the surrounding territory.

The Smolensk nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The SNPP annually issues on the average about 20 billion kilowatts hours of the electric power into country power supply system, that constitutes about 13% of the energy, developed in «Rosenergoatom Concern», and more than 80% of the Smolensk region energy, developed by the power entities.
