Smolensk NPP: a corporate competition of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC took place in Desnogorsk

In Desnogorsk, a city of Smolensk nuclear scientists, a traditional field-and-track semi-marathon was organized, dedicated to the memory of Sergey Krylov (Director of SNPP from 1998 to 2001, Honorary Freeman), and an open darts tournament among the workers of the nuclear power engineering and industry for the prizes of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. This year a team of the Concern central office has joined the sports community.

Opening the sports forum Deputy Director of Smolensk NPP Anatoly Terletsky welcomed the participants: “Sport means winners, but I’m sure that no one will lose in this competition, because the main achievement will be communication and close friendship”, he noted.

On the first day of the competition the sportsmen covered the following distances: men – 21 km, women – 10.5 km.  Gold winners in different age groups: men – Aleksey Shlykov (Smolensk NPP), Dmitry Makeyev and Vitaly Postnikov (Beloyarsk NPP). Silver winners: Nikolay Mezentsev (Kursk NPP), Dmitry Ogartsev (Balakovo NPP), Nikolay Tikhov (Smolensk NPP). Bronze winners: Nikolay Novikov (Kursk NPP), Oleg Sannikov and Vladimir Vasinkov (Smolensk NPP).

Women covered a 10-km distance. The best results: Yuliya Simko (Beloyarsk NPP), Tatyana Sokolova and Olga Sorokina (Balakovov NPP), the second place was occupied by Oksana Gubaydullina abd Oksana Antonenko (Smolensk NPP), Elena Zakharzhevskaya (Leningrad NPP), the third – Valentina Korobova ( Smolensk NPP).

In field-and-track race on a 5-km distance Dmitry Makeyev (Beloyarsk NPP), Dmitry Ogartsev (Balakovo NOO) were the first among men, Yuliya Simko  (Beloyarsk NPP) and Olga Sorokina (Balakovo NPP) showed the best results among women on a 3-km distance.

The darts competition was also very thrilling. Nadezhda Shishkina (Kola NPP), Anna Nekholina and Anna Drobkova (Smolensk NPP) were the most accurate among women. Among men – Dmitry Pavlov (Leningrad NPP), Andrey Mankov (Smolensk NPP) and Alexander Kukin (Kola NPP). 

In the open tournament for mixed pairs (a man and a woman) the first place was occupied by team No. 1 of Smolensk NPP, the second – a team of Leningrad NPP, the third – the second team of Smolensk NPP. In team darts championship the gold medal was awarded to team No. 1 of Smolensk NPP, silver medal – to Kola NPP, the bronze one – to Leningrad NPP-1.

According to the field-and-track semi-marathon results, team  No. 1 of Smolensk NPP was the first, Beloayrsk NPP team – the second and team No. 2 of Smolensk NPP  - the third.

Adviser to Deputy General Director of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC Oleg Zheltov noted: “Physical culture and sport are important aspects of non-productive sphere. We have much to be proud of: in the difficult period we’ve managed to maintain not only spots infrastructure in NPP satellite cities, but the desire of people to engage in sports activities. Sports, culture and creativity will by further supported by Rosenergoatom Concern administration”.

Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP supplies to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by the power plants of Smolensk region.
