On May 12, 2011, the representatives of the central military and medical commission of the Ministry for Defense of the Russian Federation made an information visit to Rostov NPP.

They met with the specialists of RNPP public information centre, of the department for radiation safety and the plant operation personnel. The specialists of the Ministry for Defense attended the turbine island and room control unit of power unit No. 2, got acquainted with the process of the scheduled preventive maintenance at power unit No. 1 and of power units Nos. 3, 4 construction.

Deputy Head of the Central Military and Medical Commission First Department Andrey Datsko said: “The main thing we have been assured of today is that the safety systems are working reliably and irreproachably. All my doubts concerning Rostov NPP safe operation have been dispelled, and I am glad about it. I must confess we did not expect to see such a high level of production organization, personnel training and control. I think that speaking about the work of the nuclear plant no one should make hasty conclusions, for this is of professionals’ concern, and we should trust them”.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. The nuclear plant has two operating power units of VVER-1000-type reactors with installed capacity of 1000 MW. Power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, power unit No 2 – in December, 2010. The construction of power units Nos. 3 and 4 has been carried out since 2009.
