Rostov NPP: power unit ?3 shut down for routine overhaul

The power unit n?3 will be disconnected from the network and shut down for repair works on tower evaporative cooling in accordance with the application, agreed with the Joint dispatch control after power systems of the South and the operating organization JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom", on September 14th at 22:00.

There are no violations of limits and conditions of equipment safe operation.

Preventative overhaul with partial refueling and performing of routine repairs of basic equipment according to the annual schedule of repairs will start on the power unit ? 1 of the Rostov NPP on September 15.

The radiation background at the plant and the surrounding area is unchanged and is at the level, which corresponds to the normal operation of power and do not exceed the natural background values.

The Rostov nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. There are two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt operating at the nuclear station. The power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010. The power unit ?3 physical launch was in November 2014, energy launch - in December 2014. The power unit ?4 is being constructed.
