Rostekhnadzor has implemented a successful inspection at Rostov NPP

The Inspection Department for Supervision of Nuclear and Radiation Safety at Rostov NPP of the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision has completed the inspection of Rostov NPP safety system, including the enterprise seismic protection.

The inspection result showed that the safety systems of Rostov NPP complied with current Russian standards and requirements.

During three weeks, Rostekhnadzor inspectors examined the activity of Rostov nuclear power plant for security assurance of power units Nos. 1 and 2 as well as analyzed project, operational and factory documentation for compliance with safety standards and requirements, including the assurance of their seismic and hydrogen explosion protection.

The inspection was held in accordance with the program, approved by Head of Rostekhnadzor Administration for Safety Regulation of Nuclear Power Plants and Research Nuclear Facilities Mikhail Miroshnichenko.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. The plant operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with installed capacity of 1,000 MW. Power unit No.1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, power unit No. 2 Р in December of 2010.
