Leningrad NPP: power unit No. 4 has been connected to the grid

On April 6, 2011 at 5:06 p.m. power unit No.6 of Leningrad NPP was connected to the grid after scheduled major overhaul. At present, the power unitХs capacity amounts to 500 megawatts.

At the moment all four power units are in operation, with total capacity of 3,500 megawatts.

The radiation background in the area of Leningrad NPP location and in the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural background values. 

Leningrad NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located on the bank of the Gulf of Finland in Sosnovy Bor city, 80 km to the west of Saint Petersburg. LNPP is a plant that operates RBMK-1000 reactors (graphite-uranium pressure-tube thermal reactors). The NPP operates 4 power units with electric capacity of 1,000 MW each.
