Leningrad NPP is getting ready to accept the winners of the International contest ТWe are the children of the Nuclear City Р 2011У. The solemn awarding ceremony and profound festive program for the children who will come from different corners of our country and from abroad will be held at the end of June.

Within the framework of preparation of the final arrangements, a promo-exhibition of the works of the International contest ТWe are the children of the Nuclear City Р 2011У laureates opened in Leningrad NP administration building.

We remind that in April the jury of the contest ТWe are the children of the Nuclear CityУ accomplished its work and named the best authors participated in the project in 2011.

According to Nina Mishina Р a member of organization committee, project coordinator and contest ideological inspirer for all the 16 years of its organization Р this year more than 1,000 works were sent to Sosnovy Bor Museum of Modern Art and organization committee of IX International children creation contest ТWe are the children of the Nuclear CityУ. Most of them Р 750 Р appeared to be the drawings of various genres and multiform techniques of performing. There also were 144 works of arts and crafts, 45 exposition, stories, fairy-tales and poems and over 50 multimedia presentations, projects and video clips.

The youngest contest participant was 2.5 years old and the oldest one was 18. 318 participants were at the age of up to 7 inclusive. Such a young membership of young participants occurred for the first time of all the 16 years of the project existence. And also for the first time ТnuclearХ and ТfreeУ topics, offered to them, were equally popular among the authors. 489 works were examined in the nomination ТMy Native Land, Forever LovedУ, and over 500 works in the nomination ТThe Galaxy of Peaceful AtomУ.

Children living in the cities of the location of scientific establishments, enterprises of the power industry and the industry of Russian and foreign nuclear branch took part in the contest. These were the children of the nuclear cities of all Russian 10 nuclear plants and from the cities: Seversk of Tomsk region (SCC), Ozersk of Chelyabinsk region (Mayak), Moscow and St. Petersburg as well. Children of Bulgaria, Finland, France, Hungary and Ukraine became the contest members.

The jury consisted of teachers, artists, museum workers and atomists-specialists, examined the works of the participants in the three sections: computer works, art and literature creativity. Names of 24 laureates and 36 winners were mentioned according to the results and 28 works more were proposed for encouragement. Also the jury selected over 200 creative works for the exposition of the final exposition, which is to open in Sosnovy Bor Museum of Modern Arts in July.
