Kursk NPP: the March plan for electric power generation has been fulfilled by 103%

In March, 2011 the Kursk NPP generated 3 bln. 152,3 mln. kWh of electric power. The task is executed: as for the electric power Р by 103 %, as for its delivery Р by 103,88 %.


From the moment of the Kursk NPP start-up in 1976 it has generated over 699 billion 684 million kWh of electric power.


At present power units Nos. 1, 2 and 3 and 4 of the Kursk NPP are in operation. Their capacity corresponds to the dispatch schedule.


Power unit ? 1 has been under planned repair since April 1, 2011. Usual procedural tests and standard operating repair of the block equipment will be carried out during the repair.


The radiation background in the area of the NPP location and in the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural background values. 

Kursk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located on the left bank of the Seym River, 40 kilometers to the south-west of Kursk city. The NPP operates four power units with pressurized-tube reactors with total capacity of 4 million KW. The power units were connected to the united energy system of the country in 1976-1985. Kursk NPP is the largest power generating source in the Central Black Earth Belt.
