Kursk NPP: a round table, devoted to the 50th anniversary of the first human flight to space, has been held

On April 12, 2011, on the World Day of Aviation and Astronautics, Kursk NPP Public Information Centre entertained over 100 pupils of Kurchatov city. The children and their teachers saw the exhibition expositions and went on excursions in the museums of I. V. Kurchatov, T. P. Nikolayev, participated in cognitive competitions. Also they were presented the information concerning close and mutually advantageous interrelation of astronautics and nuclear branch, and the application of the nuclear science achievements in space branch. 

After that a round table, devoted to the 50th anniversary of the first human flight to space, was organized. The teachers and pupils of Kurchatov city took part in it. 

The organizer of the personal exhibition, devoted to Yury Gagarin and Russian astronautics and located in Kursk Public Information Centre, the inhabitant of Kurchatov city Alexander Kozlov, opened the event.

ТDear children! Today we are celebrating the jubilee date, important for our country and for the whole world as well Р the 50th anniversary of the first human flight to spaceУ, said Alexander Kozlov, referring to the pupils. ТIn these very years, already distant, for the first time, after many tests, the first man flew to the space, and that was the citizen of the Soviet Union Yury Gagarin. That flight became a historic event and greatly influenced the life of the whole world. That is why we must remember the event of such a scale and live up to itУ.

The video presentation called ТThe First Human Flight to SpaceУ was presented to the event participants, and the audio fragment of TASS report about the first space launch with a man aboard was demonstrated to them. In a very detailed way the round table organizers told the schoolchildren about Yury GagarinХs life, his flight and tragic death, spacewomen, astronautics development in the Soviet Union and then in Russia. Also the children saw the scheme and working principles of different types of spaceships. At the end of the event its organizers answered multiple pupilsХ questions.

Teacher of Kurchatov secondary school No. 6 Marina Zlobina expressed the common opinion of the round table participants:

ТOf course, nowadays not every child dreams of becoming a spaceman, but the topic of astronautics is close and interesting to my pupils. It is pleasant to see that the Public Information Centre, that we visit frequently, pays much attention to the historic dates of such significance, cultivating in the growing generation patriotic feelings, and pride for the native country. The today event was very informative.У
