Kursk NPP has generated 700 bln kWh of electric power since its commissioning

Since NPP start-up in 1976 Kursk NPP power units generated the seven hundredth billion kWh of electric power at 01:50 a.m. on April 5, 2011.

Given the current consumption level, this electric energy capacity would satisfy the country needs over a period of 8 months, Kursk region needs Р over 87 years.

In 2010, the electric power generated by Kursk NPP amounted to 13 % of consumption by 19 Russian Federation subjects included in the Center service area.

Kursk NPP is the second NPP among the Russian NPPs as for the volume of generated electric power (after Leningrad NPP, which has a longer operating life). This NPP provides 90 % of industrial plants with electric power.

At present Kursk NPP operates power units Nos. 2, 3 and 4. Their capacity corresponds to the dispatch schedule Power unit No.1 is in scheduled maintenance repair since April 1, 2011.
