Competition of professional skills for title of "Best in nuclear safety" summed up at Rostov NPP

The results of the professional contest for the title of "Best in nuclear safety" were summed-up at the Rostov nuclear power plant.

The competition was held at the plant for the fourth time. Contestants are experienced specialists of the NPP, they answered questions on nuclear safety, reactor physics, practical actions for implementation of programs of nuclear-hazardous works and actions in emergency situations.

"This year we have focused not only on the knowledge of the rules and regulations prevailing in the nuclear industry, but also on the practical issues of physics and construction of a nuclear reactor. This is a rather complex issues. But our professionals face them in discharge of their duties. Therefore we can say that the competition for the title of best in nuclear safety will help to improve the quality of daily work", - said the Deputy Chairman of the competition committee, Head of the Nuclear Safety and Reliability at the Rostov NPP Alexander Belyakov.

According to the results the winner is the shift manager of the reactor department of the first stage Pavel Ivanov, who collected the maximum number of points and spent minimum time for training. Pavel confidently went to victory, last year he won a "bronze" medal of the competition and this year he win.

The second and third place respectively were occupied by the Chief Engineers of nuclear physics laboratory OYaBiN Vladlen Vdovyuk and Roman Elansky, multiple winners of competitions of professional skills, including - for the best in nuclear safety. Winners of the competition will receive cash prizes in addition to the moral satisfaction.

The Rostov nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. There are two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt operating at the nuclear station. The power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 Р in December, 2010. The power unit ?3 physical launch was in November 2014, energy launch - in December 2014. The power unit ?4 is being constructed.
