Rosenergoatom has completed the delivery of the technical and regulatory documentation for the Armenian NPP as a part of the pilot engagement

The Rosenergoatom Joint-Stock Company (a part of Electric Power Divions of the Rosatom State Corporation) has completed its activities under the initial arrangement with a foreign customer in order to deliver the technical and regulatory documentation related to the launch, operation, life extension, and shutdown of a nuclear power plant.

For the reference, back in spring 2018, Rosenergoatom together with the Rusatom Service JSC launched a pilot project with the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant CJSC to facilitate the improvement of the Armenian regulatory arrangements in the realm of nuclear power.

The idea of this service is to help foreign customers who construct NPPs under Russian project:

  • safely operate nuclear power plants with VVER-like reactors at all stages of an NPP life cycle;
  • cut the costs and time lines for the NPP construction, as the customer doesn’t have to produce their own regulatory documents;
  • streamline the process of obtaining the necessary approvals and licenses from a national regulatory authority.
As a result of the project, the Armenian Nuclear Power plant has received 26 documents required for the safe operation of the NPP and for the extension of its operating license.

This is the first step in the update of the Armenian NPP’s regulatory base. All other activities will be resumed once the Company’s technical documentation sales support system is launched (July 2019).

It is expected that similar arrangements might be made with other top priority partner countries in the next few years.
