“Kalinin NPP has a high level of safety culture. All the events are carried out in a timely manner, properly and to the full extent. The safety culture matters always were and still are of high importance for Rosatom State Corporation. Kalinin NPP management gives a paramount attention to such matters”, the Head of the Inspection Department on Nuclear Energy Centre of the General Inspection of Rosatom State Corporation Aleksandr Evchuk said. From 15 to 19 May, 2017, Rosatom State Corporation commission has conducted the targeted inspection of safety provision at Kalinin NPP.

During the inspection the experts have examined the matters of nuclear safety, labour protection, usage of operation experience, maintenance of electricity-generating equipment, personnel management; they have conducted the walkabouts at Kalinin NPP area. Among the positive factors they have noted the well-organized system of control over the protective equipment condition, order and cleanness in office and industrial premises of the enterprise, the availability of extensive visual campaign on safety culture. “At the present time many young and competent specialist have held management positions at Kalinin NPP. This is very satisfying”, Aleksandr Evchuk added.


“Safety culture is the key priority of our work. We know well what this is. All the employees of Kalinin NPP bear personal responsibility for abiding to rules and regulations at the production. We understand that the image of the whole Tver region depends on the quality of our nuclear power plant work. First and foremost safety is important for us”, the Plant Manager of Kalinin NPP Viktor Ignatov said.

The Chief Physicist - the Laboratory Head of Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant PJST Vitaliy Gadzhiev, the Chief Specialist of Technical Inspection Administration of United Heat Energy Company JSC Anatoliy Gorbunov, the Chief Specialist of the Inspection Department on Nuclear Energy Centre of the General Inspection of Rosatom State Corporation Andrey Zazhivnov, the Chief Specialist of the Labour Protection Department of Russian Trade Union of Nuclear Power and Industry Workers Elena Chernyshova, the Technical Labour Inspector of the Primary Trade Union Organization of Kalinin NPP Anna Gnatyuk, as well as the heads and specialists of Kalinin NPP divisions have taken part in the inspection’s work.
Safety culture is such a set of characteristics and peculiarities of organization activity and individuals’ behavior that establish that the matters of NPP’s safety provision - as the key priority matters – are attended according to their significance.

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area. There are four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with installed capacity of 1000 MW each in the structure of the Kalininskaya nuclear power station.
