The WANO Chairman Jacques Regaldo greets participants of the ATOMEXPO-2017 International Forum

According to Atomexpo LLC Press Service, The Chairman of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), Jacques Regaldo, has sent a message of greetings to the participants of the IX ATOMEXPO-2017 International Forum, which will be held on 19-21 June, 2017 in Moscow at the site of Gostinniy Dvor exhibition complex.

“In a rapidly changing world, nuclear industry faces new challenges: the development of renewable energy sources, economic pressure, and public acceptability. In an effort to reduce carbon dioxide emission, most countries are reconsidering their energy balance; and nuclear industry is one of the main ways to achieve this goal”, Jacques Regaldo’s greeting says.


Regaldo is convinced that irrespective of the nature of challenges, the safety of nuclear energy industry must remain the absolute priority. It is the WANO’s mission to increase the safety and reliability of nuclear plants’ operation, and, according to the chairman of the organization, “a tangible progress has been made in resolving this task”. However, the WANO Chairman encourages all members of the Association “not to relax, be one step ahead and prepare for future changes in the field of nuclear energy”.

In this regard, Regaldo emphasizes the importance of the Atomexpo Forum as “the most ambitious event in the history of nuclear energy”. “The support that the WANO provides to the Forum is a warrant of our commitment to strengthening international cooperation in nuclear industry to continuously improve its safety”, the WANO Chairman said in his greeting message.

The main subject of the IX ATOMEXPO-2017 International Forum is Atomic Technologies - Safety, Sustainability, Stability. A rich business program waits for the participants of the Forum. The main event will be the plenary session ‘Atom is the basis of the carbonless energy of the future”. There are also fourteen round tables planned. Among the variety of topics are additive technologies, digital future of atomic technologies, the Pure Water project, the Breakthrough project, the nuclear energy safety strategy, etc. The business program of the Forum will be supplemented by an extensive exhibition with the participation of leading Russian and foreign nuclear industry enterprises and related industries.
