On August 2, 2013 the director general of the "Rosatom" State corporation Sergey Kiriyenko visited the Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant on work.  

 As the member of delegation which also included the governor of the Voronezh region Alexey Gordeyev, the first deputy director general on operation management of the "Rosatom" State corporation Alexander Lokshin and the director general of JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern" Evgeny Romanov, he made a survey of the building of the distributing device, turbine and reactor departments of the Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2, which is under construction, and other most important objects.

 After completion of the survey there took place the production meeting at which the course of the construction of NVNPP-2 was discussed. Answering questions of journalists, the head of the "Rosatom" noted that completion of the construction of the 1st power unit of the nuclear station, which term of start-up is planned for the end of 2014, is the priority project both for "Rosatom", and for the Voronezh region. 

 As Sergey Kiriyenko noted, there had been already made significant changes on the platform. In particular, for the first time in practice of the "Rosenergoatom Concern" consolidation of the operating NPP and NPP plant under construction was carried out in advance. According to the head of "Rosatom", such desicion has been correct and has already yielded good results.
 
 "Usually the consolidation of stations happens when the object is completed. But the block No. 1 of the Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant is the head block, the first in the history of the NPP-2006 project. And today it is not simply corresponding to all existing safety requirements, it is a number of essentially new technologies. The block becomes reference for new stations not only in Russia, but also abroad", - Sergey Kiriyenko reported.
 
 He also added that today serial blocks have been constructed not only with observance, but also with a schedule advancing: "In 2014, according to the schedule, is going to be a power start-up of the fourth block of the Beloyarskaya nuclear power plant, in 2015 - the third power unit of the Rostovskaya nuclear power plant is going to start working though originally in the general scheme its start-up was planned for 2016. Also on the nuclear power plant "Kudankula" was made a physical start-up in India, and the next year the secondKudankula" block will be started. The nuclear power plant "Busher" works on 100% capacity.
 
 Besides, Sergey Kiriyenko noted that the Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant has been also a considerable contribution to the development of economy of the Voronezh region today. If in 2012 the volume of investment was about 20 billion. rubles, thus the main part of means went on the construction of the new station and upgrade of the operating power units, in 2013 an investment will constitute about 28 billion, and in 2014 – about 46 billion rubles.
 
 According to the head of the "Rosatom", since 2014 the amount of funds for upgrade of the operating power units has increased several times. "It is not only the huge volume of the investment, but also a serious request for labor power. Especially as in the Novovoronezh the center for training of specialists has been created. In the next year it is necessary to increase number of people on the platform by 1,5 thousand people. Skilled specialists to whom "Rosatom" is ready to pay a good salary will be required here", - the head of Rosatom State corporation told.
 
 In turn the governor of the Voronezh region Alexey Gordeyev emphasized that the "Rosatom" State corporation is the largest investor and the employer in the area territory now. "Today about 8 thousand people in the area are work in this sphere of the economy. And, naturally, "Rosatom" is the largest taxpayer. It allows area to develop the economy at the expense of the contribution to a regional gross product and to solve a number of social tasks. To some extent, the increase in wages for teachers became possible due to the fact that on the territory of the region there are enterprises of Rosatom», - he noted.
 
 Alexey Gordeyev also expressed gratitude to Sergey Kiriyenko for the joint operation in searching the solutions of social tasks: "Now in the Novovoronezh the latest stadium is being constructed, with the corresponding sports infrastructure. The object will be made available to inhabitants of the Novovoronezh. Also it is our joint project. In further plans is continuation of joint participation in the problem resolution of the housing-and-municipal sphere of the city. We see advantage of our work. There is a confidence that the Novovoronezh will be one of the best small cities of the Voronezh region and of all Russia thanks to such joint actions of "Rosatom" and the government of the Voronezh region". 

 The power units ? 3 and ? 4 of Novovoronezh NPP are working in the set mode at the moment. The power unit No. 5 is stopped on the scheduled preventive maintenance (SPM) and for an overload of nuclear fuel.

 The radiation background around an arrangement of nuclear station and the adjacent territory is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units, and doesn't exceed natural background values, typical for the Central European part of Russia.
