The Novovoronezh NPP: power unit ?6 will start working on schedule

The next meeting on production facilities of the 6th power unit of the Novovoronezh NPP under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Director General of the State Corporation "Rosatom" for the operational management Alexander Lokshin was devoted to the course of the implementation of key activities for physical and energy launch of the power unit ?6.

As reported the Deputy director general for the commissioning enterprise of the JSC "Atomtechenergo" - the Director of the Novovoronezh branch Stepan Konstantinov, construction works on a newly built block are being done according to the schedule and all areas fully satisfy the readiness for the upcoming phase CHOT (cold-hot operational testing) scheduled for July of the current year.

The reactor is fully assembled and ready for checking density of the first circuit (filling with water o the reactor, steam generators, main circulation piping, etc.).

The Deputy Director General of the "Rosenergoatom" - the Director of the branch Novovoronezh NPP Vladimir Povarov said that all the requirements of the supervisory authorities for quality and relevance to standards during the installation works at the objects were met, all remarks were removed in time.

The meeting emphasized: physical and energy launch of the power unit ? 6 will be implemented in time this year.

The JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom" as the owner-developer has been constructing two power units of new generation at the Novovoronezh NPP beyond the project "NPP-2006" since June 2007. The construction is funded by the asset contribution and equity of the "Rosenergoatom". The reactors VVER-1200 will be operating at the NV NPP new power units.

Project VVER-1200 complies with all local and international safety requirements. Its main feature is to improve security system, which provides a significant advantage of the project on the level of safety performance.
