The Leningrad nuclear power plant: the power unit No. 3 was stopped1

On the 11th of September, 2013 the power unit No. 3 of the Leningrad nuclear power plant was stopped at 2:32 by operation of automatic equipment in a regular mode in compliance with project algorithms.

After examination and elimination of the reasons of automatic equipment operation capacity of the power unit will be recovered.

The radiation background on the nuclear power plant and around its arrangement is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units, and doesn't exceed natural background values.

The power units No. 1 and No. 2 are in planned precautionary repairs: since May 6, 2012 and on May 04, 2013 respectively. The power unit No. 4 is bearing planned load of 1040 MWt.

The Leningrad nuclear power plant is JSC "Rosenergoatom Concern" branch. The station is located in the city Pine Pine forest, in 80 km to the west of St. Petersburg on the bank of the Finland Gulf. The Leningrad NPP is the country's first station with RBMK-1000 reactors (uranium - graphite nuclear reactors of channel type on thermal neutrons). 4 power units by electric capacity of 1000 MWt everyone are operating on the nuclear power plant.
