Rostov nuclear power plant: on the third power unit under construction started installation of the main circulating pipeline

On August 17 at 15.00 according to the schedule in a reactor building of the Rostov nuclear station the installation of main circulating pipeline (MCP) began.

The installation of GTsT is one of key events of the construction of nuclear power plant. The most tough demands are made to quality of work as reliable operation of the power unit in many respects depends on it.

In total specialists of JSC «Sezam» should execute 28 welded seams. Before welding of GTsT certification of the assembly organization performing welding works, and also certification directly technologies of welding were carried out. Prototypes were checked in test laboratory by destroying and nondestructive types of control of the main metal and welded connections of JSC «Tekhnoskan» and specialists of the Federal state unitary enterprise of the central research institution of the constructive materials «Prometheus».

«The first root seams were made by welders under the leadership of foremen Ivan Smertin and Andrey Zimenko, specialists executed weldings of GTsT having experience on the second power unit of the Rostov nuclear power plant. Welders are certified, with high categories. 19 specialists have the sixth category and the five fifth. Work is conducted according to the schedule and observance of all standard requirements», - Dmitry Chumakov the yard foreman of welding works of JSC «Sezam» tells.

The main circulating pipeline with an internal diameter of 850 mm, general long more than 130 meters connects the capital equipment of the first contour: reactor, steam generators and main circulation pulsers. GTsT is intended for heat carrier circulation under a high pressure.

The Rostovskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. At nuclear station two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt are operated. The power unit No. 1 is put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010.
