Rostov NPP: atomists have taken part in the memory meeting

On June 22, 2011, on the Day of Memory and Grief, Rostov NPP management and employees took part in the memory meeting and laid flowers to the memorial stars on the Alley of Military Glory.

Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, representatives of the city administration and Duma, enterprises and organizations, students of general and higher educational institutions and citizens gathered in the Victory Park of Volgodonsk city. The memory of the soldiers, fallen in the years of the war, was honored by a minute of silence.

Addressing the attendants, Chairman of the City Veterans’ Committee Mikhail Yanovenko noted: “Today is the day when the Great Patriotic War began. The day, when the entire Russia tributes to the memory and respect of those who met the terrible disaster and gave their lives away for the sake of yours, presently living. In all the centuries and all the years you should remember about those who will never return from the battlefield. Never forget the heroes!”

After the meeting had been finished, flowers lying to the memorial stars of the cities – heroes included into the memorial complex “Star Field of the Cities Heroes” was held.

Within the framework of Rosenergoatom concern OJSC corporate policy, Rostov NPP considers the increase of the traditions of respect and worship to the Native countries defenders of all generations to be an important part of its social activity.

In 2011, for the sake of rendering addressed assistance to the Great Patriotic War veterans, RoNPP spent about half a million roubles. 532 veterans of Volgodonsk and settlements of Tsimlyansk, Dubovsk, Zimovnikovsk and Volgodonsk regions received money gifts from the nuclear power plant.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. The nuclear plant has two operating power units of VVER-1000-type reactors with installed capacity of 1000 MW. Power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, power unit No 2 – in December, 2010.
