November 10-11 – At the sport and fitness complex of Rostov NPP, the City Hand-to-Hand Combat Federation held the annual traditional competition of HTH combat in cooperation with Rostov NPP in honor of the townsman – a Hero of Russia, Colonel Mikhail Revenko, killed in the line of military duty in the Chechen Republic. The honorable guests such as Inna Alexandrovna Revenko, mother of the Hero, heads of the Administration, Volgodonsk City Council and Rostov NPP, as well as teams’ representatives, laid flowers to the monument of Mikhail Revenko.

At the opening ceremony of the event, Deputy HR Director of Rostov NPP, Gennady Fomenko, wished athletes health, man fortitude, fair contest and victory.

The competitions were attended by the teams from the Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions, Krasnodar territory and Rostov NPP. The individual championship combats were held in nine weight categories. In the category up to 80 kg, the second place was taken by the athlete of Rostov NPP team, master of sport Viktor Roznechenkov. This time nuclear engineers could not get the medal places in the team championship. But the winners were the countrymen - a team from the Rostov region, which also included Volgodonsk athletes.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1,000 MW. Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001 and Unit 2 – in December 2010. Power Units 3 and 4 are under construction.
