Rosenergoatom: Vladimir Asmolov took part in the Ministerial Conference on nuclear safety in Vienna

Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC First Deputy General Director, VNIIAES President, Doctor of Technical Sciences Vladimir Asmolov took part in the Ministerial Conference on nuclear safety, dedicated to the analyses of the accident at Japanese Fukushima-1 NPP, which is being held on June 20-24, 2011 on the initiative of IAEA in Vienne.

Vladimir Asmolov gave an estimation of the accident in Japan, also paying attention to the questions of Russian nuclear power branch safety. In particular, he told the journalists that at the beginning of July Russia would publish the report of the World Association of NPPsХ Operators (WANO) about Russian plantsХ safety.

According to him, Тa very high degree of readiness for emergency situationsУ and also the fact that Тenormous sums of money are spent on the NPPsХ modernization and safetyУ had been noted in WANO report.

Besides, Vladimir Asmolov underlined that after the accident at Fukushima-1 NPP in Russia Тimmediately, within a month, the analyses of the plantsХ safety had been carried outУ. According to him, the project of the report had been directed to the Russian party on June, 3. The experts gave the Russian Federation three weeks to send their remarks. However, as Vladimir Asmolov reported, the Russian party had completely agreed with the report and had not sent to WANO any remarks.

The Russian report would be the first one of WANO, which would be available to a wide public.
