Concreting of the combined fourth-fifth tier (from the level +34.42 to the level +44.10 m) of the inside containment (IC) of Unit 2 reactor building started at Novovoronezh II (general designer and contractor Р JSC Atomenergoproyekt, Moscow).
In construction of the reactor building containment of Unit 2, there is implemented a pilot project of Rosatom Production System (RPS). The project ТManufacturing, Assemblage of Reinforced Concrete Blocks and Concreting of the Inside ContainmentУ is aimed at loss reduction and optimization of production. As a result, the project has already managed to reduce terms and improve the quality of works.

Completion of the installation of the cylindrical part of the reactor building containment is scheduled for December. At the moment, pre-assembly of metalwork of the inner containment dome of Unit 2 is underway at the site of Novovoronezh II.
 
The project AES-2006, whereby Novovoronezh II is in process of construction, provides for double reinforced-concrete containment of reactor. It prevents from leakage of radioactivity into the environment and serves as physical protection against natural and man-made external effects. The thickness of the inside and outer containments is, respectively, 1.2 and 0.5 m.
