Leningrad NPP: power unit No. 1 capacity has been reduced by 50 %
On January 19, 2011, at 10:50 p.m. the load of Leningrad NPP power unit No. 1 was reduced by 50 %, in accordance with the filed request, in order to find out the cause of lower insulation resistance of the first generator stator coil.
This event is preliminary classified as a zero level (below - scale) event by the seven grade International Nuclear Events Scale (INES)(no safety significance).
No violations of limits and conditions of power units safe operation have been registered. Power units Nos. 2, 3 and 4 operate at nominal capacity and bear the total load of 3,140 megawatt. At present capacity of power unit No. 1 is equal to 500 MW.
The radiation background in the area of Leningrad NPP location is not changed and corresponds to the natural environmental values typical for European Russia.
