Kolskaya nuclear power plant: the power unit No. 3 is stopped for carrying out repair work

 On August 2, 2013 at 06:53 the power unit No. 3 of the Kolskaya nuclear power plant stopped for carrying out the repair work according to the submitted demand. 

 There are power units No. 1 and No. 4 in work at the monent which bear total load of 663 MWt. The power unit No. 2 has been removed since August 2, 2013 in scheduled preventive maintenance according to the schedule of repair campaign-2013.

 The radiation background on the Kolskaya nuclear power plant and the adjacent territory is at the level corresponding to the normal operation of the power units, and doesn't exceed background natural values.  

The Kolskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in 200 km to the South from Murmansk on the shore of the Lake Imandra. It develops about 60% of the electric power of Murmansk region. There are 4 power units in operation with reactors of type VVER 440 MW each. The Kolskaya nuclear power plant is the supplier of the electric power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
