In Early November Leningrad II Expects to Receive Equipment for Pile Assembly of Unit 1

It is expected that the equipment for Leningrad II-1 under construction will be delivered to Sosnovy Bor on November 4 as consisted with the supply schedule. As the total equipment weight is 622 tons and the largest part of the set is an out-of-gauge load, to deliver it, there was chosen a sea route through the Gulf of Finland.

On November 2, a special vehicle with equipment will set out from the jetty in the village Ust-Slavyanka located on the river Niva. The general track that the reactor will do from Izhora Plants to Sosnovy Bor is more than 140 km.

To be able to carry such an important load, there have been made appropriate preparatory works at the pier of Sosnovy Bor.
After unloading, the equipment will be delivered by a special vehicle to the site of unloading and storage of heavy oversized equipment of Leningrad II.

The rest of the equipment (a unit cover and a pit) will be supplied to the site of Leningrad II by the motor transport.
The reactor equipment, including the reactor vessel VVER-1200, expansion pipe bend and pipe protection unit for the plant under construction, were produced at Izhora plants on the order of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Such equipment has a long production cycle, thus, to meet the deadline, the contract was signed more than 3 years ago, in September of 2009.
