Beloyarsk NPP: PIC (public information centre) employee has become a laureate of PEGAZ-2010 contest

According to the results of XVII PEGAZ international journalistsХ contest (Petroleum, Energy, Gas) ТThe Best Publication on the Problems of Fuel and Energy Complex of Russia for 2010У Head of Beloyarsk NPP public information centre Roman Toporkov was awarded a honourable diploma of the laureate in the nomination ТFor the Series of Analytical and Problematic Materials in PressУ. He has been becoming a laureate of the contest for the fifth time.

PEGAZ International Contest is annually held under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy of Russia, Rosatom State Corporation, all Russian Academy of Energy Journalism, with the participation of oil and gas and power companies. Academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professors of specialized institutes, State Duma Deputies, Directors of the profile departments of Ministries, establishments and power corporations, representatives of MSU journalistsХ faculty and the central mass media of Russia were included into the expert jury. PEGAZ is considered to be one of the most reputable journalistsХ contests in the field of duel and energy themes.

The journalists writing on the topic of oil and gas mining, traditional electric power industry and the nuclear power industry from Russia and other countries Р Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Germany Р took part in the scheduled competition. From the employees of the nuclear power branch of Russia representatives of public information centres of Balakovo, Kursk and Smolensk NPPs became the laureates of PEGAZ-2010 contest.

Beloyarsk NPP was put into operation in April, 1964. This is the first NPP in the nuclear power industry of the country and the only one with reactors of different types at the same site. The first power units of Beloyarsk NPP with the AMB-100 and AMB-200 fast neutron reactors have been shut down and are prepared for decommissioning. Beloyarsk NPP operates the unique power unit with a fast neutron reactor of industrial power level - BN-600. The BN-800 power unit with a fast neutron reactor is being constructed. The fast neutron power units serve for substantial extension of the fuel base of the nuclear power industry and minimization of radioactive waste due to the closed nuclear fuel cycle.
