Balakovo NPP Finishes Joint Retreat on Issues of UnitsХ Operation
November 9 Р A two-day joint retreat under the guidance of Deputy General Director РNPP Production and Operation Director of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, Alexander Shutikov, finished at Balakovo NPP.
Heads of technical departments of the operating organization, Viktor Ignatov - Director of Balakovo NPP, Valery Bessonov - Chief Engineer, and his deputies also took part in the meeting dedicated to the issues of the operation of the plantХs power units.
Opening the meeting, Alexander Shutikov noted that the meeting had been planed according to the work schedule of the ConcernХs Technical Direction. ТAs part of joint retreats held with managers of nuclear power plants, there are discussed the most challenging production issues important for the plantХs personnel and issues of high priority in the work of the ConcernХs Central Office. Our common goal is to thoroughly analyze them and find their solutions,У stressed Alexander Shutikov.
The discussion touched both current production processes and nuclear power plantХs operation in the future.
At the last meeting, much attention was paid to the problems related to the reparation and upgrading of Unit 1 of Balakovo NPP. As part of this repair, Balakovo NPP carried out unique operations related to replacing of the over-sized equipment Р turbine condenser tubing, which required dismantling of the unit wall panels. It was noted that the experience of Balakovo NPP nuclear engineers in carrying out of such works would be required at other nuclear power plants too. Yevgeny Sobolev, Deputy Chief Engineer of Balakovo NPP for Repair, reported on the progress of repair works, its peculiarities and terms of implementation, staffing level and availability of technical equipment.
The retreat members also discussed the promising directions in the plantХs work. Among the priorities, there was voiced the implementation of measures on energy conservation, preparation to the replacement of Unit 3 steam generator, which was planned for the scheduled outage of 2013, prospects to increase power of Unit 4 to 107-110% and integration of improved fuel assemblies with height-profiled gadolinium fuel elements. It is planned that Balakovo NPP will become ТpilotУ in the implementation of this project.
