State Duma Committee on Energy recommended that the Government of the Russian Federation should provide for construction of Kursk NPP-2 and take a decision on power unit No.5.
On March 1, 2011, at the visiting meeting at Kursk NPP, State Duma Committee on Energy recommended that the Government of the Russian Federation should provide construction of KNPP-2 on the basis of a VVER-TOI typical project in order to replace Kursk NPP power units Nos. 1 and 2 to cover the deficiency of the region basic capacity for a long-term period.

On December 23, 2010, a system spillage onto the open reactor was held at power unit No.4 of Kalinin NPP. During this technological operation an after-mounting clearance (flushing) of pipelines of safety systems and normal operation systems, connected to the reactor, was held.
