Bangladesh will use Kalinin NPP experience in the area of environment control

The system of environmental management of Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant is an efficient tool for environmental impact management. The Plant’s practical experience in the organization of environment control and effective cooperation with authorities and public will be used at Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh.

This point of view was expressed by the Senior Geologist of Rooppur NPP (Bangladesh) Islam Farhan, “We are starting to construct the first nuclear power plant in Bangladesh, and it’s very important for us to use the knowledge and experience of our Russian colleagues to develop our specialists’ competence.”

The representatives of Rooppur NPP under construction visited Public information centre of Kalinin NPP on 1 August. The purpose of the visit was to share experience in organization of Environment Management System (EMS) and work of Kalinin NPP’s information service. The guests from Bangladesh visited the exhibition of Public information centre – Kalinin NPP: What is it?. During the round table the specialists of Kalinin NPP spoke about performance indicators, environment policy implementation and EMS organization at the Plant.

The representatives of Bangladesh NPP were also interested in the way that the work is done on the provision of information on production and environment activity to public is done at the Russian plant. The Head of the Environment Control Department of KNPP Andrey Danilkin told about the industrial ecological control management system, the new environmental control facility put into operation at Kalinin NPP – module waste water treatment unit. The Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of Kalinin NPP Andrey Voytenko offered the Bangladesh colleagues to use a number of effective mass communication projects developed by the Plant’s specialists in their work.

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area. There are four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with installed capacity of 1000 MW each in the structure of the Kalininskaya nuclear power station.
