Rosenergoatom Concern was included in the 2016 top three power generating companies based on their market efficiency

Based on the results of the 4th quarter, as well as 2016 in general Rosenergoatom Concern took second place in the “Power generating companies – the market efficiency” ranking that was composed by Nonprofit Partnership Council for Organizing Efficient System of Trading at Wholesale and Retail Electricity and Capacity Market (NP Market Council)*.

The first place in the ranking composed on the results of 2016 was given to Boguchany Dam PJSC, the third one was given to Irkutskenergo JSC.

It is to be recalled that Rosenergoatom took a leading place in rankings for two years – in 2014 and 2015.

At determining the leaders of the industry the data on 73 power generating companies and enterprises was used.

Within the framework of companies’ market operating efficiency analysis the NP Market Council evaluates the rankings of the RF constituent entities and participants of wholesale and retail markets of electric energy.

Power generating companies ranking is traditionally composed every quarter and is based on the results of the year, which allows to access and compare the efficiency of power generating companies against the following parameters: maintenance of generating equipment’s good working condition, load efficiency, unit cost, profit per unit produced.

The leaders are determined on the basis of the listed factors with account of weight coefficients - generating equipment’s good working condition (weight coefficient – 35%); capacity factor (weight coefficient – 15%); unit cost of 1 MWh of electric energy (weight coefficient -25%); profit per unit of 1 MWh of generation (weight coefficient – 25%).

*NP Market Council was established in compliance with the Federal Law from 4 November 2007 No 250-FZ “On Introducing Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation in Connection with the Implementation of Measures for Reforming the Power System of Russia”. The partnership unites the sellers and buyers of electric energy (capacity) that are the entities of wholesale market - the participants of circulation of electric energy at wholesale market, as well as other organizations that provide the functioning of commercial and technological infrastructure of a wholesale market in electric energy industry (http://www.np-sr.ru/).

The Rosenergoaton Concern (the power division of the Rosatom State Corporation) includes 10 Russian nuclear power stations bearing the status of the Concern’s affiliate companies, along with the vendors catering for the needs of the generation company. All in all, the 10 nuclear power stations operate 35 power blocks* (*excluding the Novovoronezh NPP’s 6th power block being at the pilot production stage): 18 of them operate VVER reactors (12 VVER-1000 power blocks and 5 VVER-440 power blocks of different modifications); 15 of them with channel reactors (11 power blocks with RMBK-1000 reactors, four power blocks with EGP-6 reactors); and 2 power blocks with fast neutron sodium cooling reactors (BN-600 and BN-800).

At the moment, the Rosenergoatom NPPs account for 18.6% of the whole electricity output in the
country.
