The Kola and Balakovskaya nuclear power plants are recognized as the best among Russian NPPs in terms of safety culture

The results of the work of Russian NPPs (branches of the Rosenergoatom, the Electric Power Division of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom) on the maintenance and development of safety culture were summarized the other day at the final meeting of the expert commission.

It included representatives of Rosenergoatom's profile departments and chief engineers of all Russian nuclear power plants, who identified two enterprises at once that achieved the most significant results in this direction for the period from October 1 of the previous year to September 30 of this year.

When summarizing the results of the competition "The Best NPP in Safety Culture", which is held annually, they take into account not only the reliability and stability of the operation of NPP production facilities, but also the implementation of environmental legislation, norms and rules on safety, labor protection, as well as the prevention of fires, efficiency of work to prevent negative events at the NPP as a whole and a number of other criteria.

The working group also analyzes all reports on safety culture, the results of inspections of nuclear power plants by the commissions of the operating organization (Rosenergoatom), state supervisory authorities, as well as partner inspections of the IAEA and WANO.

The award ceremony will be held in January at the Third Divisional Forum for the Development of Safety Culture, where the teams of the winning plants will be awarded the badge of honor "The Best NPP in Safety Culture".
