Integrated technical inspection has confirmed the high reliability and safety of the new units of the Leningrad NPP

The first integrated technical inspection of PWR-1200 power units was completed at the Leningrad NPP. During 10 days representatives of Rosenergoatom General Inspectorate focused on such areas as operation, maintenance and repair, engineering support, emergency management, radiation protection and radioactive waste management, housekeeping, as well as training and maintenance of personnel qualifications operating new high-tech power units of 3+ generation.

In the course of the integrated inspection, inspectors carried out walk-down of plant, interviews with managers and personnel of the Leningrad NPP-2. Besides, the commission members monitored the activities of the operating and maintenance personnel during the entire shift.

“The planned comprehensive inspection included the widest range of issues in ten areas of activity and once again confirmed that the new power units are being operated safely and reliably, in accordance with the design and Russian and international requirements for nuclear and radiation safety,” said Alexander Belyaev, chief engineer of the Leningrad NPP-2. “In general, any inspection is an extremely important work for the plant, which allows you to look at the production process from the outside, see strengths and weaknesses, identify areas for improvement and recommend using the experience of other nuclear facilities. After all, safety is a criterion for evaluating all our production processes and an absolute priority over any tasks. They make the nuclear power industry a model of reliability and stability in Russia and in the world”.
