All the procedures necessary to launch the production of medical oxygen and its delivery to regional medical institutions have been completed, the necessary tests have been performed, and a final positive conclusion has been received.

Medical gas oxygen is a new product for nuclear scientists, but it is in high demand nowadays. It is used to treat patients with Coronavirus infection and pneumonia, as well as diseases of the respiratory and circulatory systems. It is also especially necessary for patients in intensive care units and during surgical operations.

It is planned to produce oxygen on the basis of the nitrogen-oxygen station of the enterprise. It has all necessary equipment and qualified personnel. The maximum capacity of the equipment is 40 cubic meters per hour; this volume is enough for the operation of one artificial respirator for about 3 days.

“Obtaining a permit for the production of medical oxygen by the Rostov NPP is not just a new, additional direction of production, but our social responsibility. Today, if necessary, we are ready to provide assistance to doctors, as well as to help in-patients,” said Andrei Salnikov, director of the Rostov NPP.

Let us recall that the work on preparation for the production of medical oxygen at the Rostov NPP began in May last year, in June the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation issued the nuclear power plant a license for the production of medicines. Later, in January of this year, a registration certificate was received from the Ministry of Health of Russia, and in June, after the inclusion of medical oxygen of the Rostov NPP on the State Register of Medicines, the regulatory procedures were fully completed.
