Rosenergoatom concluded free contracts for the supply of "carbon-free" energy with the total value of about 5 billion rubles

Rosenergoatom (part of the Electric Power Division of Rosatom State Corporation) has signed free contracts for the supply of green electricity produced at nuclear power plants with several large consumers with the total value of about 5 billion rubles, and is ready to continue to cooperate with consumers in this direction.

“Taking into account the fact that a wide range of Russian consumers need to confirm the “carbon-free” origin of the electricity they use, and the corresponding regulatory system in this country is still being developed, the only mechanism for confirming the source of origin of energy in the Russian wholesale market is free contracts. We have concluded such contracts by the end of this year with the total value of about 5 billion rubles,” said Deputy General Director, Sales Director of Rosenergoatom Alexander Khvalko.

Nuclear power can be the global answer to the climate challenges of the 21st century, as it is one of the cleanest, most reliable and sustainable sources of electricity.

Thanks to nuclear-generated electricity, Russia saves 110 million tons of CO2 emissions per year. For example, replacing coal-fired thermal power plants with 4 GW nuclear power plants will prevent the combustion of oxygen produced by 10-12 million hectares of forest.
