The Administration of Leningrad Region summed up the results of the construction of new units at the Leningrad NPP

The meeting was attended by the heads of the government committees for the fuel and energy complex, natural resources, management of housing and communal services and the heads of the Leningrad nuclear power plant (NPP). It was headed by Yury Andreev, Chairman of the Fuel and Energy Complex Committee of the Administration of the Leningrad Region.

The members of the administration unit first visited the facilities of power unit No. 6 of the Leningrad NPP, which was put into commercial operation in March this year. At the subsequent meeting, they discussed the results of the operation of the new Leningrad NPU. They praised its reliability, safety and efficiency.

The participants also discussed the prospects for the construction of two more power units with VVER-1200 reactors at the Leningrad NPP site.

“The commissioning of new extra-power units is an extremely important event for the Leningrad Region,” noted Yuri Andreev. “In the next 3-5 years, the Leningrad Region will need large volumes of power generation, with at least 1 gigawatt used for the implementation of the most important projects in the town of Ust-Luga”.

In conclusion of the meeting, the director of the Leningrad NPP Vladimir Pereguda appealed to Yuri Andreev as a representative of the Administration of the Leningrad Region for support in the implementation of promising strategic initiatives in the field of social security, transport, and in further development of nuclear enterprises in the town of Sosnovy Bor.
