Rosenergoatom: Russian NPPs implemented the annual plan to generate electricity in the amount of 217.674 billion kWh ahead of time

On December 24, 2021 Russian NPPs (branches of Rosenergoatom, Electric Power Division of Rosatom) implemented the annual state task of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia to generate electricity in the amount of 217.674 billion kWh ahead of time.  In 2020, on the same date, more than 210.416 billion kWh were generated.

As of today, the generation is already more than 217.680 billion kWh.  This amount of electricity at nuclear power plants allowed saving CO2-equivalent emissions in the amount of over 109 million tons (if the same amount of electricity was generated by coal-fired generation).

In 2021, a number of measures contributed to the increase in electricity generation, including the optimization of the duration of repairs by 102 days.  Besides, power unit No. 6 of the Leningrad NPP with an innovative generation 3+ PWR-1200 reactor was commissioned in March 2021.

Let us recall that at the end of 2020 Russian NPPs broke an absolute record for the volume of electricity generated, increasing the total output to 215.746 billion kWh (against 208.78 billion kWh a year earlier).

The task until the end of 2021 is to generate electricity at NPPs of Rosenergoatom in an amount not less than the target level which is 219.933 billion kWh.

Today Rosenergoatom consists of 11 operating nuclear power plants as branches, including the floating nuclear power plant (FNPP) in Chukotka.  The share of electricity generated by nuclear power plants in Russia is about 20%.
