Rosenergoatom has launched a unique project for digital management of the company - Decision Center

Rosenergoatom (part of the Electric Power Division of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom) has launched the Decision Center, a unique project for digital management of a company that has no analogues in the nuclear industry. The Rosenergoatom Decision Center is implementing a new management format by creating a special information technology space for effective monitoring, forecasting and on-line decision-making at the management level.

The main objective of the project is to increase the speed of data analysis for making management decisions. In addition to the performance indicators of the operation of nuclear power plants, the Decision Center presents operational financial and economic indicators, including those related to the field of sales of electricity and capacity of nuclear power plants on the wholesale market. This project is one of the key elements of the future digital industry management system.

The decision center is located in the building of the central office of Rosenergoatom in Moscow and is connected with the Crisis Center of Rosenergoatom and nuclear power plants – branches of the company.

“This is a unique development based on many years of experience of Rosenergoatom in monitoring key performance indicators, including those with the help of technologies implemented in our Crisis Center. The use of new digital technologies in the Rosenergoatom Decision Center will bring the quality of management functions to a fundamentally different level. The decision center is one of the components of the "digital operation template" – an integrated set of digital solutions, methods and services for the efficient operation of nuclear power plants and other complex industrial facilities, which Rosenergoatom develops as a commercial product for other companies, regardless of the profile of their activities, but primarily, of course, for companies in the electric power industry”, - commented General Director of Rosenergoatom Andrey Petrov.

The decision center aggregates about 1,500 indicators from several hundred sources on a real time basis. Information is received from all Rosenergoatom NPPs, including both from the sites of the power units under construction, and from the infrastructure organizations of the energy system and the market. In order to process a large amount of data, a digital assistant was introduced in the Decision Center, which instantly notifies the operator about all changes in the work of power units, calculates the effect of the event in monetary terms and automatically sends the result to managers. Therefore, the Decision Center is actively involved in the daily work of the generating company.

The decision center has great development potential. In the future, such tools as big data processing, predictive analytics and a mobile platform will be introduced into the work of the center, which will make it possible to significantly expand the areas of control. It is expected that in the near future the decision center will become an important control element and will be integrated with the centralized digital control system for the nuclear industry created by the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom.
