Kalinin NPP practical experience in supporting the economic and cultural development of the Udomlya Urban District has become a key topic of the Lianyun District delegation visit (Urban District of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China) held on 25 October, 2018 in the city of Tver nuclear scientists. The Lianyungang District with the participation of Rosatom State Corporation is building the Tianwan NPP.

The delegation included representatives of the Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation, the Lianyun District Administration, as well as representatives of Rosenergoatom JSC and Rusatom Service JSC.

In one day, the Chinese delegation representatives visited the industrial site and power units of Kalinin NPP, made a sightseeing tour of Udomlya, and also had an excursion to the KlnNPP Public Information Centre.

One of the important aspects of the visit was the meeting of Chinese delegates with the NPP Senior Management and the Administration of the Udomlya Urban District. Ruslan Alyev, the Deputy Chief Engineer of Kalinin NPP, told the guests in detail about the NPP operation, its safety priorities, and the social aspects of the enterprise activities.

Following the subject of the social and economic development of Udomlya, the District Officer Rem Richter presented information on the investment implementation, educational programs in the municipality, and spoke about the city’s interaction with the Nuclear Plant and the implementation of joint social projects.

“Kalinin NPP has very close relations with the municipality in the field of economical and socio-cultural development of the territory. We will use this experience in the future”, Chen Shujun, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the Lianyun District, noted. “The visit to the Plant impressed us greatly and it will be a good platform for further discussions.”

By the end of the visit, both parties expressed mutual desire to consider the possibility of inter-municipal agreement on friendship and cooperation between the cities. “The establishment of inter-municipal cooperation will open up new opportunities in social and cultural development, will allow attracting additional investments, and stimulating innovative and entrepreneurial activity”, the representatives of the both cities’ governments noted.
