During ATOMEXPO 2018 Rosenergoatom and Belarusian NPP have signed a Framework Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation

On 14 May, 2018 Rosenergoatom JSC (a part of Rosatom’s Electric Energy Division) and Belarusian NPP RUE signed a Framework Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation.

The signing of the Agreement became a logical continuation and consolidation of the results of cooperation in area of safe and reliable operation of NPP. It is based on mutual goals and interests of the parties and bears strategic and developing character.

At the present time the Republic of Belarus with the help of Rosatom State Corporation built two power units with 3+ generation VVER reactors of Russian design of NPP-2006 that corresponds to the most advanced requirements and standards of safety, reliability and economical efficiency. The cooperation with the Republic of Belarus began four years ago within the Plan of events on creation of nuclear power industry infrastructure of Republic of Belarus for 2015-2017. It was approved by the management of Rosatom State Corporation and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Belarus. During the cooperation the national system of nuclear energy program management was created and improved and the safety matters of nuclear energy use were regulated.

Taking into account the fact that the Republic of Belarus has taken a certain path on development of the national system of nuclear energy program and is in the active phase of construction and preparation to the first power unit’s start-up, the initial subject matter on assistance in nuclear energy infrastructure program of the Republic of Belarus has transformed into rendering the practical assistance to Belarusian NPP. During the three-year Plan of events on nuclear power industry infrastructure about 60 events were carried out, and more than 270 Belarusian specialists took part in them.

Rosenergoatom is a largest enterprise in electricity and power production sector in Russia and the only company that performs the functions of the operator of nuclear power plants. The core areas of the company business: production of electric and heat energy at nuclear power plants, operation of nuclear facilities, sources of radiation, storage facilities for nuclear materials and radioactive substances, that is performed in accordance with the requirements of Russian laws and regulations. Rosenergoatom incorporates all 10 nuclear power plants of Russia, affiliated within the structure of Rosenergoatom, as well as the enterprises that support the performance of the generating company. Currently, the NPPs of Russia produce about 19% of total electricity generation in Russia.
