Rostov NPP: Rostov region team on feast fighting has won SFD Championship.

Rostov region team took the first prize in the South Federal District Championship on feast fighting. The championship, official sponsor is Rostov NPP, was held on March 5, and was devoted to the memory of Sergey Molodov, the Hero of Russia, fallen on the territory of the Chechen Republic in February 2000.

Over 300 sportsmen from 8 to 17 years old took part in the championship. They represented 4 teams: Astrakhan, Volgograd, Rostov regions and Krasnodar territory.

During the ceremony of the tournament opening, Gennady Fomenko, Rostov NPP Deputy HR Director, underlined, how important it is to honor the memories of our country heroes. “Sergey Molodov’s great deals is an example of courage and bravery, ant feast fighting cultivates these features in a sportsman.”

Alexander Soroka, Chairman of the nuclear plant professional unity committee, noted that feast fighting always showed the bright and deep sportsmen’s fight, presenting the audience with a charge of positive feelings. “It is especially pleasant that today the best sportsmen-feast fighters of South Federal District gathered in Volgodonsk. Let this championship be remembered by everybody for our land hospitality”, - Alexander Soroka addressed to the championship participants and guests.

Andrey Parygin, Rostov nuclear plant worker, became the tournament main judge. 

About 120 sportsmen fought for Rostov region honor, they won the tournament gold. Volgograd region team took the second place. Astrakhan region sportsmen took the honorable third place.

Now the sportsmen are to show their skills at the Championship of Russia on feast fighting, where the strongest feast fighters of the country will meet in a battle. The tournament will be held in April in Volgodonsk city.
 
Sergey Molodov, Hero of Russia, Major Guard, served in a parachute subdivision, that earlier had located not far from Volgodonsk. He participated in both the counterterrorism campaigns on the Chechen Republic territory. In February 2000, while commanding a troop of Guards Parachute Regiment No. 104, he took the fight at altitude “776”. He was mortally wounded while removing an injured soldier from the battlefield, but was going on commanding the troop. In 2001, Sergey Molodov was awarded the Hero of Russia postmortem. In Volgodonsk there is a monument to Sergey Molodov, a square is named after him.
 
Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. The nuclear plant has two operating power units of VVER-1000-type reactors with installed capacity of 1000 MW. Power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, power unit No 2 – in December, 2010.
