Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC and Leningrad NPP announced about the beginning of IX international children creative contest of the artistic project ТWe Are the Children of Atomic CityУ. Children and teenagers from 3 to 18 years old, living in the cities of nuclear branch, science and industry of Russia and foreign countries, will become its participants.

In 2011, the project will celebrate 16 years. Within this period over 7.5 thousand children from Lithuania, Ukraine, Finland, England, Bulgaria, France, Germany and Russia, including the cities, where the nuclear branch enterprises are located, took part in it.

ТWe Are the Children of Atomic CityУ project helps the enterprises of Russian nuclear industry bring up a positive attitude, trust and interest in nuclear branch and industry and nuclear branch professions among the growing generation, and to cultivate patriotic feelings to the native land.

This way, the organizers tend to support the gifted youth and involve it into creative collaboration in the issues connected with the city and the city-forming enterprise, reflect their role and place in the regions history, in forming the Тatomic citiesУ appearance and traditions.

The contest is held by age groups: the 1st group Р under 6 years old, the 2nd Р 7-10 years, the 3rd Р 11-14 years, and the 4th Р 15-18 years old.

This year the paintings of any genre, literary works, computer works, as well as ornamental and applied works, presented in one of the nominations ТNative Land, Eternally BelovedУ and ТPeaceful Atom GalaxyУ were accepted for participation in the contest. If the 1st topic is quite understandable and evident to the atomic city citizens, the second was chosen by the organizers as a tribute to Yuri Gagarin the Earth first cosmonaut, who 50 years ago performed his first flight to the space. In their works, the competitors are to think over what connects an atom and the solar system, as well as about the peaceful atom opportunities in space exploration.

Leningrad NPP, Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC and Rosatom State Corporation are the project organizers. The partners are Sosnovy Bor Museum of Modern Art, State Establishment of Leningrad region culture ТMuseum AgencyУ, Creative Union of St. Petersburg museum workers, International Association of the Young Atomists.
