Repair campaign of 2011 has started at Kola NPP

Repair campaign of 2011 started at Kola NPP. On March 11, at 00:00 power unit No. 3was was put into scheduled capital repair with modernization. On May 20, the repair of power units Nos. 3 and 4 will be started, on June 4 Р of power unit No. 4, on September 2 Р of power unit No. 2.

The total period of the scheduled preventive repair of all the Kola NPP four power units will last more than 200 days. The repair campaign-2011 is to be completed in October.

At present, three power units of the nuclear plant are operated. In accordance with the dispatch schedule, the load is equal to 1,360 MW.

The radiation background in Kola NPP district and in the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal power units operation and does not exceed the natural environmental values.

Kola NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located 200 km to the south of Murmansk on the bank of Lake Imandra. Power unit No.1 of Kola NPP was commissioned in 1973. Currently, the plant operates 4 power units with VVER-type reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 440 mW. Kola NPP supplies power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
