Kalinin NPP: Sergey Kiriyenko highly appreciated the progress of construction works at power unit No. 4

On February 2, 2011 General Director of State Atomic Energy Corporation ТRosatomУ  Sergey Kiriyenko visited Kalinin NPP where he checked the progress of construction works at the fourth power unit the physical startup of which was to be performed this year.

He was accompanied by Deputy General Directors of Rosatom State Corporation Alexander Lokshin and Sergey Budylin, General Director of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC Sergey Obozov, General Director of NIAEP OJSC Valery Limarenko and others.

Head of the State Corporation inspected the construction site, visited the reactor compartment, the unit control room and the turbine island of the constructed power unit.

Sergey Kiriyenko highly appreciated the progress of construction works at power unit No. 4 and implementation of Rosatom Production System (RPS) at the nuclear power plant. ТA year ago we considered a number of problems here extremely difficult, next to unsoluble. Today the target is not only fulfilled, itХs overfulfilledУ, Head of Rosatom noted.

The process of RPS implementation at construction and repair of nuclear power units was closer discussed at the meeting conducted by Sergey Kiriyenko. Opening the meeting Head of the State Corporation mentioned that RPS was one of the key tools due to which the unit construction had been performed not only in full compliance with the schedule, but even ahead of it.

ТWeХve gained 8-9 months not only due to RPS implementation, we tried to apply new decisions based on the RPS philosophy at most important points of the unit construction. WeХve managed to do it, and itХs really good. Now our task is to ensure its application at the rest of the units. It means a lotУ, Sergey Kiriyenko specially emphasized.

Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated in the north of Tver region in Udomlya district. Kalinin nuclear power plant comprises three operating power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) of 1,000 mW capacity each. Power unit No. 4 is under construction now and is to be commissioned in 2011.
